Lectures

Teaching is an active part of our practice. For many years, members of AtelierM have taught Architectural Design at FADU, University of Buenos Aires, establishing a continuous exchange between practice, research and academia.

This exchange extends beyond institutional settings through lectures, workshops and ongoing dialogue with architects and colleagues from different disciplines.

Collaborative

AtelierM is conceived as a workshop: a collaborative space where people, disciplines, stories and different ways of thinking come together.

We approach design as an editorial process. Rather than starting from a single predetermined solution, we open up multiple possibilities, testing different ideas, relationships and directions. Through a multidisciplinary and collective process, these possibilities are discussed, challenged, combined and gradually refined until the project finds its most meaningful form.

For us, collaboration is not simply about working together; it is a way of designing.

Sustainable

Sustainability is at the root of our work. We understand it as a way of designing rather than a goal in itself.

Our approach considers durability, resources, energy, landscape and the long-term impact of what we build. Inspired by the principles of circular economy, we seek to create architecture that consumes less, lasts longer and encourages more conscious ways of inhabiting.

Experimental

We understand architecture as a continuous process of exploration and evolution.

We know the rules and understand the parameters, yet we allow each project to develop without knowing exactly where the process will lead. Through experimentation with geometry, materials, technology and traditional crafts, we search for new possibilities while remaining grounded in the realities of construction.

Every project becomes part of that ongoing evolution.

Music meets Architecture

Both architecture and music influence our state on mind. They’re capable of producing unique emotions. That is no project without rhythm and structure, as there is no emotion without harmony or melody.

In the quest for emotion generators, there is a constant dance between music and architecture. Sometimes the answer comes one, and some from the other. We just have to explore and keep our senses wide open.

Music shows rhythm, silence, harmony, melody and fluidity. These notions are extremely valuable to architecture as tools for the design process.

Basically, by discussing these concepts we can see clearly how architecture and music both speak the very same language.

We create exciting designs based on the circular economy, through a creative workshop of constant search and experimentation, made up of a collaborative team.

Matias Mosquera

Matias Mosquera, Architect, musician, born in 1985 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, attended University of Buenos Aires.

From years 2011 to 2012, he was part of 3XN Design team in Denmark. After that, and through the year of 2020 he started BAM! Architecture along an associate partner, in which they achieved great acknowledgements on their work, including Architecture Biennials and other international organizations.

In the year of 2020, alongside a great team, he started AtelierM, where he furthered his work and exploration about architecture in different scales and regions, thus creating an avant-gard office.

Academically, he is currently teaching Architectural Design in the University of Buenos Aires, and has been doing so since 2018.

His work has been published in over 100 countries, and in several platforms, including Archdaily, Designboom, Dezeen, Clarin Arquitectura, Revista Trama, Living, Homify, Landscape Design, Casas Internacional, Arqa, 1:1, 30-60, Archilover, Architizer, Archello, Barzon, Detail, Design Milk, Catalogo Arquitectura.

El proyecto del
Parque Lineal Hipódromo de San Isidro (PLSI), surge como una propuesta para el actual hipódromo de San Isidro, el cual funciona de manera privada. Nuestra propuesta es por medio de algunas intervenciones mínimas lograr un parque lineal a lo largo de todo el perímetro del hipódromo, logrando de esta forma una nueva accesibilidad a un pulmón verde para el mejoramiento del medio ambiente y la calidad de vida, funcionando como un núcleo social inclusivo. Alcanzamos nuestro objetivo eliminando la cerca existente y generando una nueva hacia adentro, abrien do las puertas del Hipódromo y facilitando instalaciones deportivas informales y estaciones que concientizan sobre la sostenibilidad, lo que resulta en un parque de anillos lineal que funciona como un catalizador social. Nuestra intervención se adapta a la
s diferentes necesidades del vecindario, centrándose en el ocio y los deportes, como así también las actividades culturales en un espacio verde informal y sostenible.
Se buscó generar una intervención de impacto mínimo en el medio ambiente, de bajo costo y de respeto con el patrimonio de las instalaciones existentes del Hipódromo. Un retroceso de las cercas existentes creará un nuevo parque intencional. Ninguna línea recta conforma un espacio, por lo que permitimos que algunas cercas retrocedieran un poco más, desconectadas de la red rígida, creando nuevas configuraciones espaciales, sin perjudicar las infraestructuras existentes y su colectividad.
Las principales decisiones de diseño estuvieron centradas en la configuración de nuevos caminos diferenciados para realizar ciclismo, running, caminatas y en la generación de diversas islas con funciones programáticas diversas. Las principales funciones programáticas fueron: espacios para el ocio y reunión, así como también actividades deportivas espontaneas, áreas de picnic, estaciones sanitarias, estaciones de distribución de bicicletas, áreas de parkour distribuidos de manera eficiente a lo largo del parque.
Se diseño un edificio hito actuando como un faro de la sustentabilidad el cual buscar concientizar a todos los visitantes sobre la importancia de la temática.
Las principales decisiones paisajísticas tuvieron como premisa en el diseño la conservación de las especies arbóreas originales, cuya conservación y puesta en valor son condiciones de este proyecto.
La nueva vegetación propuesta se diseñó incorporando árboles nativos acompañando la geometría de los trazados y generando dos tipos de pradera de especies espontáneas nativas de diferentes alturas de gran incidencia como parche dentro de la ecología urbana.
Este tipo de especies realizan un gran intercambio energético con el medio y están adaptadas a las condiciones ambientales locales contribuyendo a restaurar el paisaje original pampeano. La fauna autóctona utiliza este tipo de flora para nidificación y fuente de alimento, es por eso que al implementar especies vegetales nativas ayudamos a incrementar la biodiversidad. Dado que este tipo de especies no requieren gran mantenimiento se promueve también un manejo sustentable, produciendo una disminución energética, así como morigeración de la temperatura.
Un sistema de caminos porosos y absorbentes para caminos, veredas y solados y equipamientos completan el Parque Lineal de San Isidro utilizado por peatones, ciclistas, estudiantes y público del PLSI.
El PLSI abre sus puertas a todo el mundo. Invitando a la población de Buenos Aires y del resto del país, así como también turistas de todas partes del mundo, con esto generar mixtura social que construya ciudadanía.
